Committee on Homeland Security to Hold Domestic Terrorism Roundtable in Pittsburgh
(WASHINGTON) – This Wednesday, September 4th, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will hold a public roundtable briefing in Pittsburgh examining homeland security issues related to acts of domestic terrorism and the impact on the community. In August, the Committee on Homeland Security announced its plan to visit communities where attacks have occurred in order to inform future oversight and legislation on domestic terrorism.
The Pittsburgh roundtable will allow Members of Congress and invited members of the Pittsburgh community to discuss the October 2018 shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue, including the response to this incident, how Pittsburgh stakeholders are working to address the persistent threat from domestic terrorism, and suggestions for further action.
